Summary: | Malacca is a historical city with lots of tourist potential, but an infrastructure supporting the transport system needs to be expanded before the potential can be tapped. According to the structural plan of Malacca, plans have been made to expand the city towards Bukit Baru, the eastern side of the city. As a historic city, Malacca State Government has decided to move all the government office to Bukit Baru ini order to make the town more organised. The existing bus terminal located at the junction of Jalan Tun mamat and Jalan Kilang is not able to cope with the increasing number of users of the bus service. The present situation has made the terminal obsolete due to insufficient space and the improper movement pattern of vehicle and people. Due to inadequate buses and berths, inter state buses are not able to use this terminal. In order to solve the problem, one of the proposed development will be the new bus terminal of Malacca town, replacing the existing bus terminal. The new bus terminal will be one of the 5 bus terminals to be built. The other four will be built along the city fringe. This four terminal will serve as the city bus and inter district bus terminal, while the other one will be for the city buses only which will serve around CBD area.
