Summary: | Rubberwood has been increasingly utilised for various end-products. Its utilisation for structural works, nevertheless, was not fully exploited. In this study, initial effort was made to look at the potentially of Rubberwood for structural glulam products. The essential strength properties of finger jointed Rubberwood have been defined and an investigation made of these and others of possible direct application, involving a total of 40 tests. Minimum values acceptable under British Standard specifications have been determined and serve as a standard for comparison. The results showed that Rubberwood has gluing abilities for effective finger jointing and produce reasonable strength for glulam manufacture. |
