description CAD/CAM data transfer between dissimilar CAD/CAM systems has been proven a problem to the implementation of the integrated CAD/CAM systems, especially in U.S and Europe where CAD/CAM technique has been intensively used in their industries. This is an internationally recognized problem and much effort has been poured to overcome it. In the Malaysian industrial scenario, CAD/CAM is quite a new technique to be implemented, data transfer problem should therefore be anticipated and appropriate steps should be taken to manage the CAD/CAM systems in order not to be caught in the deadlock of the multi-million dollars investments. The interest of this survey is to find out how to the users and vendors approach this problem and what are the end results.
