Summary: | Lightning protection system is vital to electrical system. It is becausein a long term the lightning phenomena can cause damage to the electrical equipment and the effeciency of system will be decreased. However the study ofthis pehenome is very complicated because the lightningis uncommonly happened and connot be controlled. Therefore the lightning current impulse generator is constructed. This lightning current impulse generator can produce highcurrent similarly to an actual lightning current.before the construction of current impulse generator, we must have the knowledge of components to be used. There are capacitor, resistor, inductor, spark gap and triggering unit. The study of teh test object such as Surge arrester also has done.A lightning impulse current simulation will allow us to study the effect oflightning current to electrical system such as system component and highvoltage apparatus. In this project the waveform were obtained during the tsttest of a Surge arrestor and it is analyzed.
