description | Hearing ability is very vital in our daily communication. To assess thehearing ability, the audiometer is used. nevertherless, the local hospital is still using the old fashion mainly hardware driven audiometer. This kindof audiometer is very user unfriendly, so non technical examiner will notbe able to use it. As a result, this thesis is to implement a PC based audiometersystem where the examiner will only need to give commands through the computer to make the audiometer works. To further let the examiner feels comfortable while running the audiometer, the audiometer will run under graphics userinterface environment (GUI). Therefore the examiner might only needs tomaster the minimum manual instructions before he can put his hands on thePC without much audiometry background theories. To have the PC based audiometer working, the supporting hardware is equallyimportant. The hardware is designed in the way that it can provide path for the signal generated to be passed to the patient. the main function ofthe ahrdware is to make sure that the patient has the correct signal and atthe same time provide enough protection to the patient and the PC. |
