Résumé:As the awareness of protecting the environment increases, quite a number of noise reduction researches have been done so far with varieties of techniques. The sound intensity measurement techniques is a recently developed technique which is the interest of this study. This study was conducted in Kulai Palm Oil Mill, 25th Mile, Jalan Air Hitam, Kulai, Johor. The sound intensity measurement techniques has enabled us to view the noise in both of its magnitude and direction and also to determine the exact location of predominant noise source in the palm oil mill. Locations of various noise sources in the mill are successfully detected and engineering noise control measures are suggested to reduce the noise levels. This study has covered the fundamentals of sound and acoustic, particularly the noise section. The processes involved in producing the crude palm oil mill are also covered. The engineering noise in general is discussed to guide the reader on the noise control to be applied in the palm oil mill. The results of field measurement are also presented followed by the recommendations to improve the results in the near future.
