| description | Maktab Sains MARA (MSM) is evolved from the various programs design to cater the academic needs of Form V graduates of the various colleges of the Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM). MRSM is a successful well equipped and science-based learning centres, at secondary level, to students of higher caliber. Many program have been and are still being design to help Form V MRSM graduates to further their studies, both in local and oversea institutions. From these programs, the concept of a Maktab Sains MARA takes root, a project planned to build a well-staff and well-equipped learning centre for providing pre university and two year college education to MRSM's Form V graduates. The first two program to be implemented are; (i) UKM Matriculation Program (presently in operation at MRSM Seremban, (ii) Two year Associate Degree Program. The academically qualified graduates of the first program have been and will be sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Those of the second program, to the junior year (third year) of the universities/colleges in the United State of America. They are not sent in their first year of college because they are considered to be too young and inexperienced to be faced with a totally different environment that practices a different value system. Just like the MRSM, MSM is committed in providing a favourable learning environment for educating a group of goal directed students dedicated to the construction of better Malaysia. Its curriculum is science based, an attempt to meet the national demand for science graduates as a result of a national pursuit of a faster rate in industrialisation and development. MSM strongly believe that students will derive a maximum benefit out a system of education that provides an environment whereb theoritical study and thinking interacts closely with actual experience. MSM strives to help develop sound and balance personalities in students. In achieving this, its curriculum stresses in the achievement of educational objectives of cognitive, effective and psychomotor domain. Interpersonal skill will also be fostered. Though science is greatly emphasized in MSM, it is only regarded as a way of acquiring knowledge. Other modes of knowing will also be made known to the students so that no unwaranted dogmatism will result. |
