| Gaia: | recent articles, seminars and voices from the sedc and the chief minister's office, have shown a sudden keen interest to develop the tourism industry in malacca. it is aware that with no natural resources, assets in its history and heritage, should best be capitALISED FOR THE BENEFIT OF ECONOMI GROWTH. BASED ON THE EXISTING HISTORICAL ASSETS, AMBITIOUS PRELIMINARY PLANS HAVE ALREADY BEEN DRAFTED, WAITING TO BE IMPLEMENTED, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE CHIEFT MINISTER _ DATO" RAHIM TAMBI CHIK.THIS STUDY ATTEMPS TO ASSES THE TOURISM DEMAND FOR MALACCA. DEVELOPMENT CAN ONLY BE CARRIED OUT ONCE A MINIMUM LEVEL OF TOURISM DEMAND IS ACHIEVED. THE STUDY GOES FURTHER TO DWELL ON THE ANTICIPATED INMCOME AND EMPLOYMENT THAT CAN BE GAIMED FROM SUCH DEVELOPMENT. Attention is also given to the role of the goverment, since the attitute of the Goverment is important in creating a desirable atmosphere for tourism. the writer then looks into the various tourism projects that are being constructed or waiting to be implemented. proposals are then drawn up to suggest ways of improving the present conditions and offer some guidelines to the development of tourism.
