Summary:The objectives of the establishment of five new Polytechnics in the Fifth Malaysian Plan (RML) is to increase the supply of technicions at certificate level, for which, there is a great and rapidly increasely demand, both from public sector and private sector enterprises. The five new Polytechnics are at Alor Setar, Port Dickson, Batu Pahat, Kota Bharu and Kuching. They will after twelve basic courses in engineering, three in commerce. The demand for this courses is well established as a result of the experience of the two existing Polytechnics at Ipoh and Kuantan. The locations of the new Polytechnics in addition to the existing Polytechnics in the line with the new Economic Policy of the Malaysian Government arising from which is the need to develop technical educational of Post-secondary level throughout the country.
