Summary: | A mathematical model of a transformer winding is very important in order to analyze the behaviour and the performance of the transformer. The mdoel must be such that it could predict the behaviour of the windings under vrious conditions such as overvoltages, temperature rise, etc. Many researches have been made on this subject and various models have been derived especially when dealing with the transient effect on transformer windings. In this woerk, a model of the windings is first derived and parameters si=uch as series capacitance, shunt capacitance, inter-winding capacitance, self-inducatance and mutual-inducatance are considered as distributed quantities. This model is then analyzed mathematically in order to derive equations relating the steady-state and impulse voltages of the windings. The model is also suitable for various analysie regarding transformer windings.
