description | Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and Gas Insulated Transmission Line (GITL) are among the research taht has been carried out on High Voltage Instrumentation system. The main problem that usually causes breakdown in GIS or GILL is the presence of metallic particles contaminating the High Voltage Instrumentation. In order to study this problem, some experiments needs to be carried out to detect the existence of this contamination. The purpose of this project is to evaluate a suitable method to detect the existence of the contaminating particles in GIS or GILL by using a Hi-Fi Amplifier as a detecator. The signal will go through a circuit where it will be amplified to produce an output which is proportional to the original signal. The disturbances can eb heard through a speaker or seen on the oscilloscope. The physical parameters (metallic particles) that hits the surface will then be picked up by the rtransducer which will transform the signals to electrical signals. In this case, application of such various species of object, size, length, weight, emdium are needed by scratching or falling during the experiment. |
