description Signalling System No.7 (SS7) is the heart of today's intelligent network; In fact, since the introduction of Malaysia's first ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) in the middle of 1993, it now controls the majority of local and long-distance calls. The signalling is considered as a pre-requisite and can be regarded as the key function of teh ISDN. Its signalling structure promises an irresistible combination of switching speed and advanced services like caller ID, 800 numer portability and dialable wideband services.Thisproject paper outlines the Signalling Link Functions (Level 2) of CCITT's SS7 and the way it is being simulated by using Borland C++ 3.1 and ObjectWindows programs. At first, the basic concept of Common Channel Signalling is introduced and followed by the theoretical description on SS7 which is mainly focussed on Level 2. Then an approach to the development of simulation software is described and followed by some discussions regarding the project.
