description The project was concerned with the application of a technique to measure the productivity level of a manufacturing firm. It was conducted to expose a systematiac approach in measuring the productivity level and identifying problems that effect the productivity level of the firm. The project was carried out in a chemical based manufacturing firm in Rembau, Negeri Sembilanb. Currently there isn't a systematic approach being used to measure the productivity level in this company. An Operational Total Productivity Model (OTPM) introducaed by David J Sumanth has been applied in this project to show the effectiveness of the resource utilization at the operational unit level of the firm. The scope of measurement covers two producats manufactured by this firm that are General Purpose Polystryrene and Expandable Polystyrene. The project proves that the TPM model is applicable to be used in a chemical based manufacturing firm. It is also useful for identifying the causes of deterioration in the productivity level of this firm. After analysing, suggestions and recommendations are given to rectify the problem in order to achieve an effective and efficient operations level.
