Résumé: | The design of water resources project or for structures to be builit near a river requires a a reliable and realistic estimate of water level and the amount of discharge. Catastographic discharge of a water system has often been the cause of fear over the safety of structures and properties against damage,a and human life. The purpose ofthis thesis is to study the peak flow frequency - magnitude relatinships, employing the theory of extreme value function. Sungaai Perak was chosen and among the discharge records the annual peak flow were extracted. The shortage of long continous flow record is a problem for most Malaysian rivers and this study is geared to examine the relative behaviour of short flow data over the long available record. The relative merit of each method of analysis for the particular river was also being examined. |
