Description
Summary:Shell expansion is a technique used in ship design to transform 3_D surfacesinto 2-D plane. This is useful in determining the amount of material required for construction of ship hull. This project study the various shell expansion method available for application in shipbuilding indsutry. From the study, the 3-D pythagoras method is selected base on the desired criterion for an effective computer approach. A computer approach based on this method is then proposed, demonstrated and evaluated. From this project, it is shown that the computrised approach have advantages over the conventional manual approach in aspects like: the time consume, the skill required and the effectiveness of the method.
