description This coffee-table book is a journey of discovery to sample the biodiversity present in the different habitats found in and around the oil-palm plantations of Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad. This publication is a first-hand report of what the author encountered when he visited the wetlands, mangroves, riparian strips and adjacet forests of Kulim's oil-palm plantations. The Sustainability Department of Kulim Berhad engages children, the public and stakeholders in many activities to promote the love and understanding of our wildlife. Kulim believes that understanding and awareness are paramount if conservation and protection of biodiversity are to succeed. The rich melange of wildlife presented in this book is a celebration for all nature lovers, including the corporate sector of the plantation industry. It goes to show that a fractured ecology can recover, make small advancements, given the right time and place. Plantations are often considered as void of animals and birdlife but as the reader pores through the pages, an inspiring story of concern and good management is revealed by the return of some wildlife to the often assumed unfriendly environment.
