This book, aimed to summarize some advances made in plant breeding studies in the past three decades, plant genome sequencing efforts, current state-of-the-art technological developments of genomics era, and some of current grand challenges and needed tasks ahead in the genomics and post-genomics era. However, plant breeders and agricultural scientists face many challenges to integrate and exploit these new molecular and genomics-related technologies for more rapid and efficient variety development. In this book, we review the current global molecular breeding techniques with an emphasis on recent research and the impact of genomics plants. The book also reviews some current genomics research and promising new genotyping methodologies with high potential for applied outcomes. It also consider the obstacles to the successful application of molecular genetics and genomics research in plant breeding programs and propose ideas on how some of these problems should be solved. |
