Description
Summary:The National Hydraulics Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), being the premier hydraulic research centre for water and its environment, is active in conducting marine-based research through its coastal management and oceanography research wing. NAHRIM boasts a team of experts, skilled technicians and state-of-the-art instruments in marine data collection, with experiences measuring data in the Peninsular Malaysia, particularly along the West Coast shoreline. Important coastal data including bathymetry, wave current, wave height, tidal cycles, and water level are crucial not only in obtaining a valid numerical hydrodynamic modelling, but also are essential parameters in designing an efficient integrated coastal zone management. This book presents a compilation of marine data taken at five strategic locations along the busy Malacca Straits : Langkawi, Lumut, Matang, Pulau Carey and Batu Pahat. The data is useful for engineers, students, agencies and local authorities to have a reliable baseline marine characteristics at these five sites.
