Summary:PREFACE -- Recent developments in research and practice of pharmacy have created new insights to drug discovery, targeted delivery of medications and patient-centred pharmaceutical care which emphasises effective and safe drug therapy. The 15 Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)Mahidol University (MU) Joint Scientific Conference 2010 is a manifestation of the good things that both UKM and MU could offer in making the MoU between these two prominent universities a living document in addressing the afore-mentioned issues. The conference managed to attract international participations. Advancing Pharmacy across Boundaries, the theme of the conference could be literally seen through the presentation of topics by distinguished speakers, researchers and practitioners, covering various areas of research and practice in pharmacy. The confluence of local and foreign participants in Puri Pujangga, UKM, Bangi from 12th - 13th October, 2010, resulted in lively exchanges of research ideas and practice experiences. Presentations included latest developments in areas of drug discovery, drug delivery, quality use of medicine and hospital as well as community pharmacy practice. This proceeding contains selected conference presentations and has been organisedintochapters representing core areas in pharmacy. They are Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacy Practice/Clinical Pharmacy. It is sincerely hoped that, the Proceedings of the 15t UKM-MU Joint Scientific Conference 2010 will be a useful document in enhancing research and practice activities amongst those actively involved in the teaching and practice of pharmacy.
