Description
Summary:TOWARDS A HISTORY OF LAW IN MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE. "... it was still possible to speak of the history of law in Ma-laya in terms of the reception of English law. With the estab-lishment of Malaysia, however, the emphasis has or should change. Native customary law plays a much more important part in East Malaysia than it does in West Malaysia or Singa-pore and one must go beyond 1786 to trace the history of law in Malaysia. It is not that this was not always true - but the relevance of customary law has increased, the emphasis needs to be changed, and it is fitting and perhaps necessary that we should take a larger perspective in Malaysia."
