Description
Summary:The objective of theis project is to develop a system for the selection of plastic manufacturing processes. The main purpose of the system is to reduce the burden placed on the plastic product designer, in selecting the suitable processsing methods in the early stage of the part design. presently, similar systems like this are still not widely available especially in the local market. therefore, future prospect of the system is quite good. The system developed is referred to as IPPS (Interactive Plastic Process Selection). It is developed by using Turbo C programming language. The system is able to select the suitable processing methods for a plastic component based on the keyed-in plastic material and geometrical features of the component. The system also able to recommend the user on the economical processing methods to be adopted based on the keyed-in estimated producation run for the component. In addition, the system also help the user to perform trade-off in terms of cost and performance by presenting the process with the highest production arate and the process with lowest tooling cost and equipment cost.
