Summary: | This report presents the design and fabrication of a small continuous horizontal water tunnel facility. All the progressions carried out during the design, fabrication, and testing stages of the proposed water tunnel have been discussed in this report. Thes include the literature study, ideas of water tunnel development as well as flow visualization techniques, materials selection, modification and refinement of the final design, fabrication and testing of the proposed water tunnel. The flow patterns around models were resorded by photograph. The literature study and design development of the small continuous water tunenel had been carried out in Semester I. Whereas the modification and refinement of the final design, fabrication and testing of the proposed water tunnel facility had been carried out in Semester II. This small water tunnel facility is an ideal teaching aid for demosntrating flow patterns around submerged bodies. Either dye method or hydrogen-bubble method can be used as flow visualization technique. Therefore with this proposed water tunnel facility, the study of simple fluid motion will be more fun and interesting.
