description | Hot dip galvanizing is the coating of steel in a bath of molten zinc to prevent corrosion of the underlying steel. it is one of the oldest, simplest,cheapest but effective practiced to protect iron or steel from corrosion attatck. however, in malaysia it is still lack of information, experimental invenstigation and tsting done in the galvinizing activities. besides, yetno single mini lab scale hot dip galvanizing pot are constructed in universities's lab for study and testing.This project studies the processes and the galvanizing problems arising fromlocal hot dip galvanizing plants. subsequently, the design of the mini lab scale hot dip galvanizing pot is proposed to ptovided facility for studentand galvanizers to do experimental testing or the galvanizing work.since unsatisfactory of galvanized products quality occur mostly becauseof the poor surface pretreatment, it is suggested theat the proper pretreatment and surfacepreparation step should be followed when conducting specimenin the lab.Also, some testing and experiment methods are proposed as the quality control system and to test the coating performance. |
