Resumo: | Object-oriented design is the construction of software system as structuredcollections of abstract data type implementations. Its approach offers three important advantages, namely reusability, extendibility and compatibility. These have make object-oriented design very useful especially when it is applied to assist the engineering designs which generally need a lot of changes before the sound designes can be produced. The main purpose of this project is to provide an elementary appreciation of the concept of object-oriented programming analysis in the machine elements design system. Basically, this project intends to study as well as to solve the problems in machine elements design by developing a software with the object-oriented programming system. Three common machine elements were chosen in developing this software. They are stepped shaft, deep groove ball bearing and spur gear. The software developed were found reliable, user-friendly with error-checking messages, completed with graphic display, items selection can be done easily with menu and icon, and also mouse supported.
