description The chief sources of energy used for the generation of electrical energy are water, fuels and nuclear energy. Micro-Hydro Generator Systems (MHGS) converts potential energy of water into electricity. It is a clean source of energy. Hydro electric power plants generate from few kW to thousands of MW. It can be classified as Micro Hydro power system for the generating capacity less than 100kW. Micro hydro can provide alternative renewable energy sources especially in areas with small rivers or stream flowing. Other renewable energy source, such as solar and wind, can be used to produce electrical power. The choice of energy source depends on several factors, including availability, economic and energy and power requirements. Micro hydro power is almost always more cost-effective than any other form of renewable power. Micro hydro designates projects with power output of less than 500W. This project is also using a Programmable Interface Controller (PIC) and power electronic components in designing hardware. In the end of the project, the proposed micro hydro-generator work properly as designed and produce output power as high as 500W or more and can be used for lighting, bulk, and battery charge and electronics devices.
