description | With the rapid penetration of ICT, entrepreneurs are creatively extending their business over internet or transferred to be E-business, which has been convinced promising new wealth momentum. The success of E-business cannot be realized without solid support of the physical distribution provided by logistics companies, or rather, the courier companies. And such interdependence keeps on increasing as the online market grows dramatically. However, to what degree the courier service interacts with the e-businesses has not been empirically proved. And the hidden mechanism of the interaction in relation to knowledge management and creativity has not been investigated. Hence, this study was aimed to develop a new logistics knowledge management framework for courier service companies towards enhancing the performance of e-businesses with the consideration of the role of creativity in the context of Malaysia. 92 respondents from 14 courier companies were surveyed on their Logistics-related knowledge process capabilities (LRKM), i.e. generation (LRKG), dissemination (LRKD), Shared Interpretation (LRKS) and Responsiveness (LRKR) and creativity. While, 92 respondents from 56 E-business companies were surveyed on their E-business performance in the aspects of finance (FP) and E-business Development Level (EBL). The results demonstrated that among the four capabilities of courier companies, the LRKD was the most contributing factor that drove their e-business partner’s performance, followed by LRKR, while LRKG and LRKS are were not significant. And Creativity was proved playing a mediating role between the four capabilities and E-Business Performance. It implies that to enhance and help their partners’ e-business performances, the courier companies should continue exerting efforts on both LRKD and LRKR, while working harder on LRKG and LRKS as which are still contributing to e-business performance. And to further enhance e-business performance, courier companies shall also improve its creativity, as is the latent driver that facilitates E-business performance. This research presents several theoretical contributions by providing further insights on determinants and outcomes of LRKM towards e-business performance, as well as the importance of creativity of courier companies, especially in Malaysia. It is hoped that both industries could be better developed to be knowledge-led innovative organizations and to boost Malaysia to become a fully developed nation by the year 2020. |
