The dramatist portrays them in such a way that we can appreciate the process in which they acquire this tragic self-consciousness through well-defined conversations. The moral message of these tragic conversations is central insofar as it contains two main points: a proposal of a model of man and a communitarian model of humanity. II. In the particular case of Euripides the dialogic form is central because he illustrates with his tragedies a specific mode of verbal intercourse that has many formal similarities to the Socratic-Platonic idea of dialectic as a philosophical method of conversation through questions and answers. |
