description Objective: Evalution of frequency of hirsutism in female students of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in 1995-1996. Population:  700 female students (Married & Nonmarried ) of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in 1995-1996. Method: Providing of questionaire and completing that by students. Results: 700 female students of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences were evaluated and 221 ones had hirsutism. Most of hirsute patients are in 20-23 years age group and they are educating in Medical & Health Course. 67.7% of hirsute patients are non regional (NOT Hamadanian). Most of hirsute patients have normal puberty age and normal mentural age. 24.4% of hirsute patients have abnormal menstural cycle and 42.1% of them have irregular menstural cycle. 35.7% of hirsute patients in relation with the social problem are involving sever stress. 40.7% of hirute patients have positive family history of hirsutism. Positive family history of ovaria cyst and infertility in hirsute patients is more than non hirsute ones. Most of the hirsute patients have hirsutism-oneestage in 16-19 years old and most of these patients have slowly grown speed. The most common signs with hirutism is inclining hair loss and acnea. The most common site of hirsutism is chin (43.4%). Conclusion: since more than half of hirsute patients have regular mense and almost 3.4 of ones have normal menstural cycle, and also because most of these patients have hirsutism beginning age before 20 years old, and slowly growth speed, therefore, we conclude that most of the patients have idiopathic hirsutism.
