It is really hard to think that we can isolate art, literature and artist from the culture they live
in. Because of this reason, literary works are important sources that contain a rich material
for folklore and sociology can benefit from. Another aspect which should be emphasized in
the literature is that it sometimes benefits from tradition. The relation between the literary
culture and folk culture creates the starting point of this study. Anadolu Korku Öyküleri

Koray Günyaşar, Galip Dursun, Kayra “Keri” Küpçü named six authors’ six stories and
which is an interesting book, draws attention to the last term Turkish stories with its different
style. Fear and mystery are important elements in those stories where odd people, events or
circumstances in uninhabitant areas are narrated. But another important item is the beliefs of
society. Fears and beliefs of Anatolian people and their pratics, are regarded another aspect
in terms of facilities of modern story. With this study, the story Güzay’ın Bin Dilek Ağacı
(Güzay’s Thousand Wishing Tree) by Galip Dursun, which reinterpretes the beliefs of society
and modern expressions by combining them, will be studied in aspects of traditional
components he uses. Similar and differing aspects of tradition and belief of society and their
