Description
Summary:The last decade there have been efforts made to develop teaching in Science and Technology in the compulsory schools in Sweden. One example is the introduction of the school-development program Science and Technology for All (NTA). The main intentions of the program are to stimulate students’ and teachers’ curiosity and interest in science. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze teachers’ experience of how different factors affect their use of NTA. To answer our research question we have interviewed teachers, who work with or have worked with the program, and analyzed the results within a conceptual framework based on determinants, intentions and actions. The result shows, for instance, that the NTA corresponding with teachers intentions of teaching and view of what content students should learn in science is crucial as to whether they will continue to use the material in their teaching or not.
