Description
Summary:It is necessary for community health nurses to be aware of children growth velocity as well as their height. This is a report of Joan Arton’s study on primary schools children. Traditionally children health indicators were based on if they gain enough weight or not. Although today it is proved that height is a better index for children health, but measuring height alone is not enough and growth velocity is also necessary. Some of growth problems have been identified just by measuring it. According to a study in Axfordshire on five year old children which index of their height were under third centil or above ninety seventh centil of growth, 87 percent of them were short. Researches believed these are children which could be treated effectively if they had referred on time.
