Description
Summary:This paper proposes the construction of a competitiveness index for the Colombian poultry sector. To construct the composite index of competitiveness, we used principal components analysis (ACP) to propose four dimensions that explain competitiveness. These dimensions are: knowledge (CI: 33.62%), productive dimension (IP: 26.94%), economic dimension (IE: 26.84%) and technological dimension (IT: 12.57%). It was found that the most competitive regions in 2002 were, in descending order: Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Antioquia. It can be concluded that competitiveness is a multidimensional phenomenon and that the variables associated with the origin of economic resources were closely related to the other variables.
