| description | One hundred and one group A beta hemolytic Streptococcus strains isolated from various samples were investigated for penicillin tolerance and erythromycin resistance. Penicillin MIC and MBC values were detected according to the methods of National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards. The strains having MBC/MIC ratio equal to or higher than 32 for penicillin were evaluated as penicillin tolerant and the strains having MIC values ≥ 4 µg/mL for erythromycin were evaluated as erythromycin resistant. As a result, there wasn’t any penicillin resistance detected but one strain was evaluated as Eagle phenomenon. Erythromycin resistance rate was detected as 5%. |
