Description
Summary:This article presents an edition and translation of two recently discovered Mandaic poems from the late 18th century, a period for which no such material has previously been attested. The poems are composed in the mixed literary idiom employed by Mandaean priests up to the 19th century that combines elements of Classical Mandaic and Neo-Mandaic. The Neo-Mandaic stratum provides rare dated evidence for the state of the language during that period.
