Description
Summary:V. Nabokov’s stylistic traditions in contemporary Russian prose The paper deals with some specific forms of stylistic dialog between contemporary Russian prose and V. Nabokov’s creative legacy. Such acknowledged Nabokov’s motifs as transparency, potustoronnost and ultimate knowledge are traced in O. Slavnokova’s novel 2017, representing a vivid example of today’s writer’s risky attempt to challenge Nabokov’s stylistic craft aggravated by trespassing the ‘private’ territory of Nabokov’s subject and motifs. Another example of Nabokov’s influence on Russian prose of the last decade is Lada, or Joy by prominent Russian poet T. Kibirov, who tries to “rewrite” one of the greatest novels written by his predecessor – Ada, or Ardor. Special attention is paid to poetic attributes of Kibirov’s novel because the “victorious” transition from poetry to fiction usually viewed as the uttermost achievement of Nabokov.
