Description
Summary:The identity of Europe is an important subject of the teaching of John Paul II. Both in his official and ordinary teaching, he expressed his concern not only for the institutional and political shape of Europe but also for its spiritual and moral dimension. The article answers the following questions: How did Saint John Paul II understand the concepts of “identity” and “identity of Europe”? Where did he see the sources of this identity? What foundations of the European culture did he indicate? Is Europe likely to lose its identity? What vision of a united Europe did the Pope present in the context of the necessity to preserve its identity?
