description Power engineering device testing is based on generating specific electrical signals with controllable parameters in order to simulate operating regimes similar to electric power plant ones. This paper work is focused on a hardware architecture that generates electrical signals with settable parameters, required in testing complex function protection relays. The method used for signal generation, as well as two variants of hardware structures based on this method are presented. The generated electrical signals are sinusoidal currents and voltages. The common frequency, the root-mean-square value and the phase shift of each signal are settable parameters. The hardware architecture presented in the paper is embedded in the structure of a power system simulator, improving its performance compared to a previous version.
