| Summary: | In the world behind the looking-glass of the text: functions of plug-in short story Deveru in the M. Aldanov’s novel The Cave
Article is devoted to investigation in art function of plug-in short story Deveru in the M. Aldanov`s novel The Cave. Within the limits of J. Lotman’s concept short story Deveru is considered as reception «the text in the text», representing an invariant basis of idea of the novel. The text of a short story contains quintessence of philosophical views of Brown opening sense of all work, and represents the focused projection of progress of faustian subject matters in the novel. In the analysis of a short story a projections of faustian type of the person (Wallenstein, Descartes) and faustian idea, which are realized in motives of eternal knowledge, search of true, transformation of the world and will to authority, are accented.
