| description | In a general context of growing inter-ethnic conflict on the Chaco frontiers, in Cordoba’s jurisdiction a series of forts were built during the first half of the 18th. Century, in order to protect the region from indigenous attacks. The forts – posted on the eastern and northern borders of the jurisdiction – could little prevent the arrival of Mocovi and Abipon groups to a vast and extensive frontier. In this article we aim to identify the location and other aspects of those sites that we have been able to reconstruct by reading the documents. In this way, we hope to contribute to the history of the Cordoba’s frontiers and the interethnic relations that were deployed in that area. |
