Glissant, like Meschonnic, proposes a translation approach which should be able to give full account of the heterolingualism as well as of the orality and rhythm of the literary text. Making use of this approach, the present paper examines the imaginary of the German translation of novels from the Cameroonian author Ferdinand Oyono. It focuses on the analysis of the translation of utterances in the petit-nègre register, and of the voice configuration in the original text. It aims to determine whether the translation “listens to” the text and does what the text does. |
