The main subject of the article is a process of formation of poetological features of the 20th century. It is shown, that the author’s desire “to tell the story” creates “an absolutely new form” in Jeanette Winterson’s novel Lighthousekeeping. Creative experiments determined the narrative strategy and peculiarity of the novel: the personage system, the temporal organization of the novel, different types of discourses. Winterson’s novel is a poetic narrative that reaffirms the power of storytelling. According to theory of M. Plank her stories are “the flashes across time”. The unity of the fragmentized novel is one of the peculiarities of this book. For the author narrative as itself is the main subject in her novel. It includes the features of new biographical strategy: the facts of biography do not matter. The author’s main value is to tell herself as a story. It means “re-inventing” herself. She invents not only the new forms of writing, but the poetry of new genre variation: the novel as coherent tapestry of storytelling. |
