Description
Summary:In this study, drillability performance was investigated on AISI 1050. Cutting speed, feed rate and cutting tool were determined as input parameters. Firstly, experimental design was made based on Taguchi L18 orthogonal array. Secondly, the experiments were carried out with three different feed rate (0,15-0,20-0,25 mm/rev) and three different cutting speeds (75-90-108 m/min) by using uncoated and coated (TiN/TiAl/TiCN) cutting tools. Drilling operations were performed at the CNC vertical machining center. The forces which occured during cutting were measured with the help of Kistler 9257 B dynamometer. Optimum cutting parameters were determined by using the obtained datas from experiments under favour of Taguchi Method. As a result of the applied Taguchi method, the most suitable parameter was found to be 90 m/min cutting speed and 0,15 mm/rev feed rate for coated drill.
