description The article presents the crime committed in Ponary on the representatives of Polish intelligentsia and the members of conspiratorial organisations from occupied Vilnius and the surroundings. It depicts their profiles, work, roles and tasks they performed, as well as the circumstances of their arrests and death. The second part of the study describes the actions undertaken to commemorate the victims from Ponary and the forms which disseminate the knowledge about the biggest place of a mass execution in the Vilnius region and the events associated with it. The Ponary Family Association is the initiator of the actions.
