Description
Summary:The article presents literature review findings on the prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of hyperlipidemia, including familial hypercholesterolemia in children. It is noted that the number of patients with hyperlipidemia continues to grow throughout the world. As before, hyperlipidemias are considered risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases and the cause of high mortality in different countries of the world. Attention is drawn to the possibility of atherosclerotic lesions of the heart vessels in young people and adolescents. Diseases in children (diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypothyroidism, renal pathology, etc.) have been noted, which necessitate diagnosing hyperlipidemia. There are no clear guidelines for pediatricians regarding cholesterol screening and timing of therapy initiation.
