description This article assesses the situation of nightclubs in Britain during the Covid-19 pandemic, considering the prospects for this segment of the British night time economy as the Covid crisis unfolded as well as its long-term prospects, in light of the changing patterns of the consumption of club music. It is based on interviews with leading professionals working in the sector, who have long-term experience of managing clubs, organising events and overseeing the sector as a whole. The study is informed by research about the social, economic and cultural value of clubbing and the consequences of Covid restrictions on the British night time economy and clubbing in particular, as well as on other aspects of the British economy and social life.
