Summary:This article is a linguoculturological research of the globalization phenomenon. The concept of globalization, as being revealed through the discourse of the English-language mass media, is studied in this work. The objective of the article is an attempt to explain the notion of globalization in linguistics on the basis of periodicals in the English-language mass media. The main methods are the interpretation analysis, word-formative, stylistic and quantitative methods used to analyze excerpts from English and American periodicals, appealing to the concept under research. The scientific novelty of the research is to bring to light the concept of globalization on the basis of the English-language mass media and to characterize its figurative component. The findings: the figure of globalization in the English-language mass media is mainly revealed through metaphors of the natural world and human beings’ activity, highlighting all immensity and spontaneity of the phenomenon under research.
