| Summary: | The paper gives a review of manipulation phenomenon and defines it from the scientific point of view. The existing approaches to manipulation research can be found in different types of discourse: political, media communication, advertising. The author attempts to study the manipulative capability of online comments, exploiting the contemporary scientific findings in this field: manipulation types, its strategies, tactics and language means that are commonly used by participants of everyday talk on politics. The space of discourse, regarded as the space for public opinions manifestation, is, at present, the least investigated discourse segments in which the linguistic capacity of a human is revealed and represented. However, due to the research outcome, the author concludes that immediate online comments possess increasing research potential as for manipulative capability study of written online discourse. |
