The crocodile, represented in pottery, gold and other materials, is found in cultures on the Pacific coast, particularly Tumaco-La Tolita, and can be followed into regions outside its natural habitat in Andean cultures such as Ilama and San Agustin. It is suggested that this animal had an important role in the cosmology of the region. |
