Description
Summary:High generation of single-use plastic waste in Balikpapan Municipality initiates local government to launch regulations in plastic waste management. This study assesses household and local merchants' attitudes and participation levels regarding single-use plastic waste reduction. The study found that although most respondents have high knowledge and awareness, their attitudes show low participation in waste segregation and recycling. Conducting regular education/training in waste management and providing additional recycling facilities, rewards, and incentives were suggested. Furthermore, law regulations on plastic waste must be strictly enforced through penalties and disincentives to ensure the sustainability of plastic waste management.
