| Summary: | The article looks upon the impact that the Lake school of English romanticism produced on N.Gumilev’s poetic work. It is brought to light that the great poet of the Silver Age in Russia N. Gumilev interpreted many original poetic images in his own peculiar mode, as well as symbols and motives of poetic prose created by famous poets of the Lake school of English. The Lake school greatly influenced the works of poets working closely with N.S. Gumilev, such as I.V. Odoevzeva, G.V. Ivanov, N.A. Ozup. In particular, the poem ‘ Christabel’ by S.T. Coleridge translated by G.V. Ivanov inspired I. Odoevzeva when writing her poem ‘Moon poem’. It is also stated that the true spirit of the Lake school of English poetry in N. Gumilev’s works is closely connected with the poet’s admiration for druidizm idiology shared by ancient Celtic tribes and “neodruidizm” of modern “father of acmeism” W.B. Yeats. |
